Baptism
Baptism marks the start of a journey of faith, which involves turning away from sin, turning towards Christ, and becoming a member of the local and worldwide Christian family.
We hope that parents bringing their children for baptism, will attend our church on at least 3 occasions, so that you are comfortable with us, our community and our style of worship.
Once you’ve spoken to the vicar, we will usually invite you to attend a friendly and informal three session course, which is designed to help you to understand the service and the meaning of each element. This will enable you to enjoy, and fully take part in this important life event.
We usually hold baptisms at one of our Sunday morning services as the following question and response is asked of the congregation:
‘People of God, will you welcome this child and uphold him/her in his/her new life in Christ?
With the help of God, we will.’
If your child was not baptised as a baby, they too can be baptised if they wish, as long as they are have an understanding of what it means for them.
Adult baptism is also available for those who have not yet been baptised.
What do I do now?
